Be-warned: JAMB Change Of Course/Institution Can Only Be Done Twice [JAMB Registrar]

$
0
0

In order to have accurate data and seamless admission exercise, candidates are advised to effect change of institution or course to the Universities, Polytechnics or Colleges of Education where vacancies now exist. Instead of institutions coming to the Board to source for candidates, they are to advise prospective candidates to effect changes of their first choice of institution/course.
Please note that Changes are allowed TWICE only.
Therefore, the portal for Change has been reopened to allow candidates take this advantage.
However, if a candidate had changed his/her choice before the initial closure of the portal, such candidates now have only ONE opportunity more.

After the Change, the Board will make available printouts to the institutions for the purpose of admission.
The new first choice and the updated second choice printouts would be used for the continuation of admissions exercise

JAMB Proposal On National Minimum Cut-Off Marks For [Private Uni, Poly & Colleges]

$

0

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board [JAMB] Registrar Prof Is-haq Oloyode during his visit with the rectors and provost of polytechnics and colleges of education has agreed on the minimum cut-off mark for the institution.

Read his statement below:

Consequent upon my visits to Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Kano and Jigawa States and following representations to my Office from many institutions.
it is apparent that the issue of Common National Minimum Cut-off Mark was not acceptable to many Private Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Innovation Enterprise Institutions.

THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSES AND PROGRAMMES ARE DIFFERENT

The Board wrote to the Honourable Minister of Education on the need to approve waiver to make the
Cut-off flexible according to the desire and need of institutions.

DIFFERENT DURATION

The Institutions Have Given Reasons why National Minimum Cut-off Mark should not apply to different programmes with different duration:
  • Degree Between 4 and 6 years
  • NCE - 3 years
  • ND -2 years
ND is lower and different from HND which can be equated to first degree.

PUBLIC SERVICE ENTRY POINTS

  • Degree . Grade Level 08/09 or 10
  • NCE . Grade Level 07
  • ND . Grade Level 06

PROPOSAL ON CUT-OFF MARKS

It is proposed that henceforth, Committee of Vice-Chancellors, Committee of Rectors and Committee of Provosts should be given the opportunity to meet, discuss and reach a consensus on the Cut-off Marks for their various categories of institutions before the Policy Committee on Admissions where decisions should be tabled for approval.

The Board is in receipt of requests for waivers of the Cut-off Marks:

MINISTERIAL DECISION ON FLEXIBLE CUT-OFF MARK

In response to the numerous requests for waiver of National Minimum Cut-Off Mark, the Board has
received a green light for the following:
  • Universities that have exhausted all registrable candidates with scores of 180 and above can consider candidates with scores of 160 and above.
  • Monotechnics, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education that have exhausted all registrable candidates with scores of 180 and above can consider candidates with 120 and above.

JAMB Regularization Problems And Measures Taken By The Board To Check Abuses

$
0
0

JAMB REGULARIZATION OF ADMISSION

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board has listed out issues with the JAMB Regularization process during the past years and have also taken measures on how to check such abuses.

ISSUES WITH REGULARIZATION

  1. Fraudulent Practices
  2. Fictitious Lists
  3. Data Irregularities
  4. Admissions of unqualified Candidates
  5. Candidates who did not apply to JAMB and did not sit for the UTME
  6. Institutions wait until graduation and do regularization because of NYSC

A BROADCAST ON OSUN STATE RADIO ON REGULARIZATION

  1. It was observed that one academic made a broadcast on Osun State Radio (OSBC) at 8:20am on Sunday, 25th September, 2016.
In his broadcast, he requested ALL students who wish to be regularized by JAMB to contact him to expedite the process.
  2. He claimed to be in partnership with thirty (30) Institutions to facilitate the regularization on their
    behalf.
  3. He boasted that candidates do not need to sit for the UTME.

NYSC RESOLUTION ON REGULARIZATION

In view of the abuse the regularization of admissions has been subjected, JAMB should revise the window of post-graduation regularization by introducing measures that will make it impossible
for institutions to abuse the process. (Pre-Mobilisation Workshop, 9th September, 2016)

MEASURES TAKEN BY THE BOARD TO CHECK THESE ABUSES

A new template to be completed online has been designed by the Board for all candidates who need to be regularized.
After completing the forms online, a candidate will print an indemnity form which must be endorsed by his/her Vice-Chancellor/Rector/Provost and submitted to the State JAMB office.
This is to ensure that only genuinely admitted candidates are regularized.
See Full Registration Guidelines Here

A beautiful girl has lost her life in a mysterious manner after falling sick at the Kano State NYSC orientation camp.

Ifedolapo allegedly died after falling sick
A young and beautiful National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member identified as Ifedolapo has died at the orientation camp in Kano.
The information was revealed by a Facebook user, Emeka Stefano Ekwe who said that the lady had been sick but was refused treatment simply because camp officials thought she had been pretending.
Sadly, her condition got worse and she passed away before help could come.

Emeka wrote on Facebook: “So this girl died in Kano camp today (November 29, 2016) due to negligence. They assumed she was pretending to be sick in order to dodge parade, so they refused to treat her until the situation got complicated. When will Nigeria grow? RIP Ifedolapo.”
