FUTA Students Emerges Winners In The 2016 National Mathematics Competition

FUTA Vice Chancellor Receives National Mathematics Competition Winners

The University, through its students in different Departments has again taken the lead among its peers by winning prizes in various competitions nationally. A group of four students that represented FUTA in the Nigerian Universities Mathematics competition held in Abuja and emerged overall best with 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medal were at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office for the official presentation of their medals. The competition which recorded the participation of 60 Institutions with FUTA also producing the best Undergraduate student mathematician in Nigeria is organized annually by the National Mathematical Centre. 


The following students represented FUTA at the National University Mathematics Competition:
  •  Omojola Michael Temitope Gold Medal Overall best
  •  Akinmade Mary Oluwabunmi Silver Medal Overall best female Mathematician
  •  Ofe Seun Victor Silver Medal
  •  Dike Desmond Ifeanyi Bronze Medal
The team was coached by the duo of Dr Babatope Omolofe and Mr. Ayodeji Afolabi. The head of department of Mathematics, Professor Sunday Kayode and his predecessor Professor Felix Alao led the winning team to the Vice Chancellor’s office.
